I have always enjoyed organisation, making lists, thinking ahead and being prepared.
I have always been keen to learn about anything and everything. A lifelong love of learning.
I achieved my Diploma of Applied Science // Certificate in Animal Behaviour to become a Surgical Veterinary Nurse. My calm approach worked well during vet surgeries, and my organisation skills flowed in via detailed patient plans.
Having a young family made vet nursing difficult, with late night emergency operations and anaesthetics placing difficult demands on my
time. I decided I needed to move on from surgical vet nursing towards another career that highlighted my skills and was more family
friendly.
Professionally, I have transformed from my previous career as a Surgical Vet Nurse, to Administration through to Paraplanning through to
becoming a qualified Financial Adviser. Smart Private Wealth director Shannon Smit is my biggest mentor and supporter. She has been the
magic key-ingredient in my professional transformation. Our team and individual training and coaching has played an important role in my
professional and personal development.
I’ve learnt to set specific and time-bound goals. Embracing ‘stretch’ goals, has been pivotal in my transformation into a professional who
can confidently assist clients in realising their financial goals. Planning is my forte! My self-confidence has grown. Since setting myself
the monumental task of completing a Financial Planning degree whilst raising a family and working full time, I’ve achieved more than I could
have ever imagined. I even achieved the national Aged-Care-Subject-Awards during my Masters.
"I have first-hand experienced the benefits of setting a realistic and time-bound plan to achieve specific goals. Having gone through a transformation myself has bolstered my ability to encourage my clients to embrace their own financial goal plans. ‘Hard’ doesn’t mean unachievable. If you’re willing to do the work, great things can happen."
Financial advice today is starkly different to ten years ago. With new regulations, the overall quality of financial advice, and advisers, is improving. In my short time within the financial advice industry, I have already seen many changes that I believe have been necessary to ensure the right people are providing accurate and client-focussed advice. To be successful within the financial advice industry requires gaining client trust. This is core to the way I work with my clients.
